Net Lehenga

A lehenga is a familiar outfit amongst Indian women. It is associated with weddings and other traditional Indian events. Traditionally worn by north Indian women, the dress is now seen all over India and overseas too. In fact, many non Indians opt for Indian style weddings and dress up in it preferring it over the gown. Traditional lehengas have undergone many modifications and the fashion scenario at present shows a clear picture of this evolution.

One fabric that has become indispensible for modern lehengas is net. A net lehenga has attained a high rank in the lehenga world. A net lehenga is basically a designer kind in origin. In these, net is combined with traditional fabrics like silk to bring a twofold effect. A net lehenga can be an ideal part of the wedding attire for the bride. The nature of net allows layering and helps open up contrasts of the colors used on the lehenga. A net lehenga goes best with intricate embroidery. The style of embroidery must be kept heavy though. Net can also be combined with satin for bringing in a double effect. A net lehenga is also made with lace. Zardosi or zari work too goes down well on a net styled lehenga.

A net material lehenga can also be combined with a sheer net duppatta of a metallic tone like gold. The weave of the net is such that there is no need for much work on the chunni. Setting sequins, stones, crystals or beads on net lehengas are fashionable.
